January 30
Santa Marta, Columbia
We spent the day roaming around the Old Town portion of Santa Marta and sweating. We had a yummy sandwich for lunch at a resturant that was very clean and had a wonderful bakery. The old town is pretty run down, but they are trying to renew. It was also very windy, so it was pretty dirty. I hope it isn't that windy all the time.
There were so many police. About 10:00 at least 6 new motorcycles came into the square. Each bike was carrying 2 policemen. These police had bullet proof vest on and were not as friendly as the ones in Santa Domingo. It was nice to have them around. I'm sure these countries realize the value of tourists and their safety.
It's one stop shopping. When you are getting your motorcycle. You can get a new refrigerator at the same time.

Sounds intense. I’m glad they are keeping you safe!
I feel for people that live in places where that kind of police presence is required.
I’m glad they protect visitors. I hope the weather was nice. It’s -31 here today .
