 Falkland Islands

We landed in Port Stanley and then went on an excursion to see some penguins up close.  Arriving at Bluff Cove we found
 a King, Gentoo and
Adele penguin rookery. They are the cutest little creatures.  We spent about an hour just watching them walk and swim around.  There is a 12 ft. boundary around them to protect them from crazy humans.  Then we went to a little cafe and had English sweets and cocoa.

It's not snowing the Adeles are molting

sorry the videos did load

Back in town we found the small Anglican church. It has whale jaw bones in the sideboard.
What a sweet little town.

There were several memorials for the 1982 war with Argentina.  The Falklands have been a British protectant for many years. The British and Argentinas fought a 79 day war.  Of course Britain prevailed, but many lives were lost. In addition the island was left with land mines covering much of the land.  It took them 4 years to remove all of the mines.  Now the children can run free. The Falklands  have nothing to do with Argentina. If they need assistance with rescue or anything they look to Chile for help.
