Banjul, The Gambia

Please look up The Gambia on a map.  It is a tiny country along The Gambia river, surrounded by Senegal. It will surprise you. It has been under Portuguese, French and English rule until 1994 when it finally became a republic. The capital, Banjul is on an island in the mouth of the river.
We had a musical greeting getting off the ship.

The Albert Market. We went here in 2023. The sellers were so pushy and in your face touching your hand saying they were your best friend, you could not get past them.  They were not so touchy tis time, but they were still pretty high pressure. We did not spend much time there.

This is the thrift store. They get huge bag of used clothes from Europe. They separate it all and people buy it as is.

Used wood ready for resale.

St. Mary's Anglican Church built in 1820's

Table clothes washed and hanging on the fence in preparation for Easter services.

Amid the deterioration is an abundance of color.

Receipient of one of Kyle's cars. They are magnificent looking children. You can tell they are very family oriented people.

The Gambia Basketball team.  They were out trying to get money for their team. Showing their trophy and telling us how good they are.

There is a gynecological center to care for newborns and mothers.

This van is stuffed with people. Notice the person hanging out of the back.

Just behind the tall buildings is a beautiful beach. A conservation group has planted palm trees Amid those palm trees is a little family home with goats, chickens and open air rooms.
