Lisbon, Portugal
We took a hop on-hoop off bus. These are pictures from that ride. We got off of one line to get onto another only to find that the electrical power was off. It is so funny to hear all the different speculations.
Several guys said it was off in all of Europe. Now that was a little scary. We went on the the second route, and by the time we got off the bus we learned it was only Spain and Portugal. Apart from traffic congestion and the stores accepting only cash, there was no problem. People, mostly tourists just went along their way. We noticed that the sidewalk cafes were only serving sandwiches and salads.
Of course the ship has its own power so there was no problem there. Experts on the news were saying it was some atmospheric phenomenon, or Global warming.😏 By sunrise it was just coming back on. A little drama added to the trip.
A church on every corner. I love all the sidewalk cafes. It is a
colorful, beautiful city.
The buildings are covered in tile of every color.
The next day we decided to walk about and look at churches, etc. Believe me there are plenty of churches. We hiked up the hill then went horizontally. The first one we visited was not actually a church, it was a Pantheon of important people in Portugal including writers and artists.
Narrow winding roads all the way to the top.
Baroque Church turned in the National Pantheon of Portugal. Housing tombs of Vasco De Goma, royalty, poets and heroes.
Celebrating 100 years of the life of this poet and politician.
Absolutely beautiful vault!
De Goma
first on the left.
Hungry, we found a corner cafe, And I mean corner.
We were directed across the street to their outdoor seating.
The food was delicious. Wraps, sandwiches and Flaffal.
We were right on the street.
Igreja do Menino Deus. Monestary and tile museum
Somehow I have lost the pictures of it.
Another corner restaurant. A very fun day in Lisbon.
